| Butia capitata var. odorata
Southern Jelly Palm pack contains 5 seeds with germination instructions
It has been suggested by some that the Butia odorata is sufficiently different and should be recognized as a species separate from B. capitata. In general appearance it is similar to the northern form, which occurs in the Brazilian states of Bahia, Goiás and Minas Gerais, with recurved, blue green leaves and a stout trunk. Some features that set it apart are its compact, wind resistant habit and its small fruits and seeds. Due to its southerly habitat it is the cold hardiest form, taking severe freezes without any harm. |
