 This unusual species from southeastern South Australia and neighboring Victoria grows into a large tuft of stiff, bluish leaves that are fairly wide (for a Xanthorrhoea) and flat on one side. It can form a trunk to 1 m (3 ft.) tall, but often stays trunkless. The inflorescence can grow to 3 m tall. The Tufted Grass Tree does best in dry, temperate areas and can take moderate freezes.
